The Certified Medical Incident Technician course is a hands-on, intense training program that teaches you the skills necessary to provide immediate care in an austere medicine scenario. You will learn about the basic concepts of life support and stabilization, with an emphasis on long-term care.

Our professional instructors teach students how to communicate effectively with patients and other medical staff; they also cover topics such as patient assessment, shock management, airway management, resuscitation techniques, and more.

Whether you are just starting your medical training or looking for advanced medical skills, this course will give you solid foundational knowledge that will serve you well whether you are deployed to a remote area, on an extended camping trip, or simply live or work in an area where help is not always available.

The Certified Medical Incident Technician program teaches you how to safely operate and maintain common medical equipment.

You will also learn how to identify and properly use common medical supplies, from bandages and splints to gauze for wound packing and tourniquets. You’ll learn tips that can mean the difference between life and death in extreme situations when seconds count.

This medical course is a highly valuable resource for wildland firefighters, military members, law enforcement officers, or anyone with an active lifestyle that might lead them into remote or dangerous situations where emergency medical care is not readily available.

The Certified Medical Incident Technician course is offered through different channels: online/hybrid, traditional classroom work, and hands-on exercises.

Online and Hybrid (combination of online and in-person work) courses: Each student is assigned a remote instructor who provides guidance, expertise, and feedback for students who participate in the online/hybrid learning environment.

Traditional classroom courses: You must be present at the training site to take the course in person. Traditional classroom courses meet for five days and cover all of the same topics as online/hybrid learning options. As an added bonus, you get to network with other students and professionals who may share your interests!

Hands-on exercises: Both courses involve extensive hands-on components. Students are expected to participate in scenarios and simulations that reinforce and test each of the skills and concepts.

40 hours of CMEs can be received for attending and passing this training. This course also includes a full individual first aid kit–students will be trained on the use of each item in the kit.

The course is customizable for specific populations. The base course is designed for generic wilderness professionals, but we have variants for wildland firefighters, law enforcement, industrial (petro/chem, roughnecks, etc), and maritime. These courses focus on additional topics specific to those environments, and scenarios and simulations reflect actual incidents in those fields.
